Reiki
Universal Life Force Energy
~Everything is Energy

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy medicine that can be translated as “universal life force energy” or “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki was founded in the late 1800’s by a Buddhist monk named Dr. Mikao Usui. Through his intensive spiritual practices and search for enlightenment, the gift of Reiki was bestowed upon him after fasting for 21 days. He claims that the Reiki energy and symbols he was energetically attuned to, were the keys to enlightenment and higher levels of consciousness.

Reiki is thought of to be a sacred practice where the practitioner serves as a conduit for Divine energies, to channel the Reiki healing light through, to help boost the bodies natural ability to heal itself. Reiki is both a hands on and hands off form of treatment, where the practitioner works in the energetic field of the recipient and also applies gentle pressure and light touch to various parts of the body to balance one’s energy system. Reiki is a great tool to add to your wellness toolbox and is used as a compliment to western medicine.

Reiki works hand-in-hand with the chakratic system, under the philosophy that as the chakras come online and become balanced, one experiences true peace and well-being.

Reiki focuses on stimulating a healing response in 4 key areas of our overall health and wellness, which are:

  1. Physical well-being: boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, boosts the immune system, speeds up recovery, and decreases physical pain.

  2. Mental well-being: reduces stress and anxiety, alleviates symptoms of depression, grief/trauma, and has an uplifting and balancing affect on the mind.

  3. Emotional well-being: brings in deep peace and relaxation and allows us to become more heart centered beings. Emotions can get stuck in the body and energetic field, and Reiki is a tool that helps alleviate energetic blockages and helps us move through the pain and discomfort and come back into balance.

  4. Spiritual well-being: Reiki helps us reconnect with our innermost selves. It helps us feel more connected with self, others, and all that is. Reiki expands our perspective and deepens our spiritual growth—whatever that means for each person individually.

Reiki Training is just one way to deepen into personal growth and self-realization. Many people are drawn to become certified in Reiki—whether it be for personal healing or to add another tool to their practice. I have nurses, doctors, mental health practitioners, yogis, business professionals, parents, college students, health and wellness professionals, and people from all walks of life that are drawn to this modality-- and it's always for a reason.

Cody’s Reiki classes have three levels of training and which provide three levels of spiritual attunements (which attune the participant to the Reiki energy and sacred symbols). Attunements can be thought of as a sacred process of transmitting the Reiki healing energy from teacher to student. This is the traditional way that Reiki has been passed down through the ages.

  1. Reiki Level 1: builds the foundation for self-healing as well as sets the foundation to complete a reiki session on others.

  2. Reiki Level 2: focuses on receiving three key healing symbols—the power/protection symbol, mental/emotional/addictive symbol, and the long distant Reiki symbol. We begin to transcend space and time and learn how to complete a long distant Reiki session. We also learn a new in-person healing sequence to complete on others and learn how to do a complete chakra balancing session. Reiki level 2 opens us up to the vast potential of Reiki healing energy.

  3. Reiki Master Level: Focuses on receiving the Reiki master symbol which takes the Reiki energy to its highest level. Participants learn how to give Reiki Levels 1, 2, and Master Level attunements and we go through ethics and best practices to help you weave together your Reiki practice and begin to work with others. You are also attuned to 2 other Reiki symbols to uplift your practice and elicit a positive healing response. To receive this certification, 40 hours of Reiki sessions, including journaling, are required. You will have the chance to connect with other Reiki practitioners who have been through the training, and build community, and work with them to complete some of your required hours.

*An Important note, these classes are beneficial for EVERYONE. Whether you plan to do Reiki just for your own personal growth journey, or to utilize it in your practice to assist and support others, it is all relevant and beneficial.

Reiki is one of an infinite amount of frameworks that can help one deepen into personal growth and self-realization—and can only enhance every single aspect of your life. I often say, you don’t find Reiki—Reiki finds you.
